The story of ‘Little Orphan Annie’ is one that is known throughout the world for it’s truly magical storyline of the little girl who went from having nothing to having everything.

MYT Kidstage brought the Junior version of ‘Annie’ to the stage at Middlesbrough Theatre with flare and excitement. Full sets, imaginative lighting, sound and costumes mixed in with a large talented company made for a great show.

Every single child on that stage stood out in their own way and all for the right reasons. From the audience, you could tell they were all having the time of their lives.

Sadly, as the cast was so large, it is impossible to mention everyone by name however I do want to note a few memorable characters.

Starting with the leading lady herself, Esmae Morgan as ‘Annie’. What a voice she has. From start to finish, not once did her performance falter.

Excellent stage presence throughout and she melted the audiences’ hearts.

‘Miss Hannigan’ was portrayed superbly well by Ava Micklewright. Not an easy part by any means and for a child to do it is even harder, but she pulled it off with style and penache. Great rendition of “Little Girls” and “Easy Street” which was sang alongside Oscar Croasdale and Gabriella Sanson as ‘Rooster Hannigan’ and ‘Lily St Regis’. All three were a great combination to work together and they fed of each other really well on stage.

‘Oliver ‘Daddy’ Warbucks’ was brought to life by Dominic Flynn who held the part really well. Great stance on stage as befitting the hierarchy of the character and acted well alongside Esmae and Ava Brown who played ‘Grace Farrell’. Both Dominic and Ava worked really well together and managed to keep the dialogue flowing well.

All of the orphans worked really well together and sang/danced brilliantly. Not one person looked out of place.

The full cast all held the show together created a really special show. This cast and crew should be very proud of themselves with this production.

Well done to you all and I look forward to seeing what comes along next by this great group.
