This lovely evening was designed to put us into the Christmas spirit, and it certainly did. It was a very nice touch having Holly and Jolly (Sarah and Sam) greeting the audience with a glass of mulled wine and then warm mince pies in the interval. They certainly kept everyone entertained throughout the evening too.
The varied programme of Christmas songs, traditional and modern, was performed well by everyone. The younger cast members, who were only in the first half, were genuinely excited and gave heartfelt renditions of several numbers including the opening of ‘Silent Night’, ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’ and ‘I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus’ which they did with such confidence and actions.
The remaining cast sang their way through the remaining programme which was inter-mingled with solos and duets, all beautifully sung, especially ‘Angel’s Carol’ by Sarah and Trudy and Richard’s ‘Santa Baby’ a la Michael Bublé…
The audience were ‘warmed up’ before joining in with the traditional carols, which added more humour to the event and the last few modern songs were free style, with party poppers and dancing too. The closing song ‘Happy New Year’ was a definite highlight. Sarah and Sam ensured that everyone on and off the stage had a fabulous evening and Jenni ensured that some unusual and quite intricate numbers were well executed by everyone. It was a very jolly evening, thank you.
