What Colour is Christmas?
Book, music and libretto by Dave Buxton, lyrics by Dave Buxton and Phil Turner
Although created as a musical, this could actually be either a musical or indeed a pantomime. Containing very beautiful and catchy tunes, this amazing piece of work is available with a piano and vocal score corresponding with the orchestral score (useful for those societies that have a very small band), an orchestral score for a 17 piece orchestra, or with fully orchestrated backing tracks. All with underscoring (incidental music to capture moods and moments).
As well as the many variations listed above, this very carefully crafted piece of work has:
- Good directional notes
- Clear costume notes
- Very descriptive scenery and set notes
- An audio book available
- A theme very up-to-date with environmental issues
- A wealth of characters
- Opportunities for a large number of people to be part of the production
- Suitablity for youth, adult or mixed groups
Available are a number of variations: cast of 18, cast of 49, cast of 60 and even a school version (12 songs) with a cast of 49 and a narrator.
The story is set at the East Pole in Rainbowland, where Santa and his little helpers, the Dinkybets, make toys for Christmas trees from recycled materials.
A perusal pack is now available containing the script and a CD featuring all 15 fully orchestrated songs with vocals from the show.
