Wales and Ireland Regional Gala Dinner and AGM 2020 and COVID19

Wales and Ireland Regional Gala Dinner and AGM 2020 and COVID19

The regional committee met this morning via video link to discuss the current crisis that we face. We have considered the effect of both the current restrictions and the likelihood of further restrictions regarding social distancing. Given the advice of the British Government, Welsh Government and Irish Government, we have regrettably taken the decision to cancel the Wales and Ireland Conference and AGM due to take place at the Three Counties Hotel in June this year.

There is much uncertainty at this time as to the consequences of the virus and should all restrictions be lifted before our conference date, we are aware and completely understand that there will be many who may be reluctant to travel to mass gatherings so quickly.

We are intending holding the 2020 AGM as a virtual meeting, details of how this will work will be posted to our members.  All the usual documentation will be available, although it will be necessary for any questions to be submitted in writing prior to the event and the open forum at the end of the AGM will have to be put on hold.

We are hoping to produce an awards brochure consisting of all nominations and winners which will be sent out to our societies. All certificates along with the relative trophy will be sent at a later date. Should you wish to have a photograph and be presented with your award by your regional representative once your society has begun to meet again I am sure that they will only be too delighted to receive your invitation.

This is an uncertain time for us all and we would like to assure you of our thoughts at this time. If any of our members are in need of assistance or if we could help then please do not hesitate to contact us.

Love, be kind and stay safe,

Mr Jordan Spencer FRSA

Regional Councillor
