Mill Hill MTC search for male leads for Sister Act

27 June 2017

Message from Mill Hill Musical Theatre Company Could you be Sweaty Eddie, Joey or Pablo in MHMTC’s production of Sister Act? Mill Hill Musical Theatre Company is keen to hear as soon as possible from anyone interested in playing nervous cop Sweaty Eddy and small-time gangsters Joey and Pablo in its October production of Sister Act. The hero tenor lead, Sweaty Eddie Southern is a sweet, nervous policeman who dreams of being confident and brave. Could his schoolboy crush on wannabe diva Deloris Van Cartier, who he hides out in a struggling convent after she witnesses her gangster boyfriend Curtis committing murder, inspire him to great deeds? He sings lush ballad I Could Be That Guy. Joey and Pablo are important tenor support roles. They are part of a trio of thugs sent to hunt down Deloris by their boss Curtis. Head henchman Joey does what he is told without question. Full of attitude and self-conviction, he thinks he’s a cool ladies’ man, but really isn’t. Pablo, meanwhile, is a quiet, moody Hispanic thug, who is the toughest in the gang. He’s a slick, smooth dude, but slow, and has a habit of breaking into Spanish. The two sing in Lady In The Long Black Dress alongside the third of the trio, TJ, and accompany Curtis in his big number When I Find My Baby. Robin Scarborough, who is directing Sister Act, said, “Please get in touch with us if you think you can play any of the parts. Sweaty Eddie is a peach of a role, and involves some lovely scenes with heroine Deloris. Joey has some great lines, and both sing in some cool, fun songs in the show, as well as all the chorus numbers. “Rehearsals are currently taking place on Mondays at Hartley Hall, Flower Lane, Mill Hill, NW7 2JA, and we will be rehearsing Mondays and Wednesdays from September. “The performances run from Wednesday 25 to Saturday 28 October 2017 at Hartley Hall. Please contact us straightaway and we will arrange an audition.” Ring 07798 670004 or email join@mhmtc.co.uk for further information or to request an audition. Sister Act stars Clare Shah as Deloris Van Cartier, Barbara Shapiro is the Mother Superior and David Rose plays Curtis. It is directed by Robin Scarborough and musical director is Daniel Benisty. MHMTC is an amateur musical theatre group that has been entertaining audiences since 1954. Press contact: Farhat Dar, MHMTC Secretary, 07943 195490
