Tri CummingAs drama specialist on the Musical Theatre Course at the Dance School of Scotland for 25 years, Tri has the daily pleasure of teaching and directing aspiring musical theatre professionals in Scotland's only fully funded school of performing arts.  Over her long career she has also worked as a freelancer devising, producing and directing work with professionals, amateur groups and youth companies throughout the country.  With a background in straight drama, she has a passion for directing musicals and has directed Sister Act, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Elf, Nativity the Musical and most recently Sunshine on Leith at the Kings Theatre in Glasgow along with numerous plays and revues.

Directing Musical TheatreWorking with a cast and company to bring characters, story and the world of musical theatre to life on stage is demanding and rewarding in equal measure. This course will provide you with a wealth of practical insights and tools to create memorable performances. For those who are looking to take steps towards directing musicals, the environment of summer school is the ideal backdrop to do this, bringing together a wealth of experience from fellow students and teaching staff alike.

During the week you will:

A fun and challenging week of exploration will help you to develop a toolbox of skills, tips and techniques to take with you on your next adventure into directing.

The course is aimed at students with no experience of directing musicals or more experienced students who want to be reminded of the basic foundations of directing a musical.

Please be aware that there may be a nominal supplementary fee for printed course materials, although we will endeavour to minimise this wherever possible.
