Romeo and Juliet Remix

Romeo & Juliet Re-mixed is an original education and community participation project, which will culminate in a series of performances/multi -media installations .This will be presented at The Sage Gateshead July 4th ,5th ,6th ,7th 2012 as part of the RSC World Shakespeare Festival and as an accompaniment to The Sage Gateshead’s production of West Side Story. This learning and participation project will be delivered in schools, communities and Higher Education settings, and will offer a fresh entry point to Romeo & Juliet through an exploration of Shakespeare’s modern day relevance.
Groups will work with a professional musician/composer and a professional theatre worker over a period of 20 weeks to produce an original 20 minute piece of music theatre that will be performed live at The Sage Gateshead. The first 10 week block of workshops will begin week commencing January 16th, 2012 with an introductory workshop led by a practitioner from the RSC.
The second block of ten week rehearsals will begin week commencing April 16th 2012.
We are inviting anyone interested in taking part in this project to attend the project information meeting to learn more about this exciting opportunity. This session will include a short tour of the building and an introduction to the project.
