Yes it is true! The 39th British All Winners Drama Festival is coming to the Thwaites Empire Theatre in Blackburn. From 1st to 8th July 2012, East Lancashire will be the hub of all things amateur theatrical. Following the Festival’s great success in Guernsey last year it is the North West’s chance to show what great hosts they are for this, one of the most prestigious festivals around.
This is the first year that NODA has joined with the NDFA (the National Drama Festival Organisation) to promote and organise the whole event. Thwaites Empire Theatre looks forward with anticipation to this once in a generation opportunity. The week of the Festival is packed full of exciting opportunities, cementing NODA’S commitment to “putting the “D” back in NODA”. There will be workshops by the RSC, still to be 100% confirmed, but looking very promising.
Local audiences will have the chance to see the very best of British amateur theatre talent competing for the title “All British Winner” in the categories of youth drama, one act plays and full-length plays. This is a week to be savoured and enjoyed. There are many extras planned too.
This is an open invitation to get involved. There are opportunities to help front of house, to sell tickets, to work backstage and many more roles too.
Most importantly, your support is needed to drum up support and enthusiasm for this fabulous festival of top class drama. Companies will be travelling to Blackburn from all parts of the UK. This will be a visit to remember, one that visitors will wish to tell their grandchildren about and one that places amateur drama back where it belongs in the minds of the community. This event fulfils all the objectives that NODA members have been working so hard to achieve:
* The chance to promote the amateur theatre brand.
* The opportunity to raise awareness of the wonderful “art” of amateur theatre through advocacy and campaigning.
* To undertake joint projects.
